Role Overview (People First)

The Warehouse Operations Manager is a people-first leader responsible for building, developing, and supporting a high-performing warehouse team. This role ensures employees have clear expectations, safe working conditions, the right tools, and strong leadership—so operational excellence naturally follows.

Leadership & Team Development (Top Priority)

  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse supervisors and hourly team members
  • Work collaboratively and transparently with leadership team
  • Create a culture of trust, accountability, and teamwork
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular feedback and performance coaching
  • Hire, onboard, train, and retain top warehouse talent
  • Schedule and deploy labor fairly and effectively to meet business needs
  • Foster employee engagement while maintaining high standards

Safety & Wellbeing

  • Champion a safety-first culture where employees look out for one another
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
  • Conduct regular safety training, audits, and incident investigations
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, racking)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse environment

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and returns
  • Ensure orders are shipped accurately and on time
  • Optimize workflows, layout, and processes to improve productivity and reduce errors
  • Maintain strong inventory accuracy through cycle counts and audits
  • Support peak seasons and changing volume demands
  • Effectively manage special projects to minimize expense

Inventory, Systems & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Use WMS/ERP systems to manage inventory, orders, and reporting
  • Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Partner closely with Supply Planning, Product Development and Sales teams
  • Communicate clearly with leadership to align priorities and expectations

Continuous Improvement & Accountability

  • Establish, track, and communicate KPIs (order accuracy, on-time shipping, inventory accuracy, labor efficiency)
  • Empower team members to suggest and implement improvements
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that support scalability and cost control
  • Balance results with sustainability—doing things the right way, not just the fast way

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
  • Professional demeanor with business acumen and excellent communication skills
  • 7+ years of warehouse or distribution experience
  • 5+ years in a warehouse leadership or management role
  • Strong understanding of safety, inventory control, and fulfillment operations
  • Willingness to be present on the warehouse floor and lead by example
  • Experience with WMS or ERP systems

Preferred

  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified
  • Experience in e-commerce, CPG, or multi-channel fulfillment
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
